Welcome to St Wilfrid's Primary School & Nursery

On behalf of the staff, pupils, parents and governors I would like to welcome you to our website. At St Wilfrid's we are very proud of our school ethos, "Living the Gospel in the spirit of love and respect".

This is a Catholic school which seeks to live out the values of Jesus Christ. We promote these values by our words and deeds, and Catholic doctrine and practice therefore permeates every aspect of the school's activity. We provide a Catholic curricululm, which is broad and balanced, recognising that every pupil is unique and is created in the image of God. Our curriculum is designed to enable every pupil to discern their vocation and to be well-eqipped to follow it as active citizens in service to the world. Catholic Religious Education is the "core of the core curriculum" and the foundation of the entire educational process. We also provide a wide range of extra-curriculuar activities and strong pastoral support. We incorporate democratic principles, value the rule of law, support individual liberty and foster a community in which different faiths and beliefs are respected.

The world we live in at the moment has conflict and division. We encourage our children to be true global citizens, to understand fairness, follow rules which enable us to live in a caring world, to have respect for all people, regardless of faith or culture. As a Catholic school our values are based on the Gospel – that we love God, we love one another as He loves us. On this we base our ethos and any one of faith or no faith can follow these tennets. Through the teaching of British Values we encourage our children to embrace our school values and ethos and to start to recognise when others have extreme views which are contrary.

Confidence in school comes from knowing and understanding what is happening within it. We hope that our website will be another gateway to providing you with information and a helpful portal to enjoy the life of our school. We look forward to your positive feedback.
